Mark holds numerous credentials and certifications, enhancing his authority in the security field. These include certifications in Emergency Crisis Management, Physical Security Planning and Implementation, Foundations of Targeted Violence Prevention, Behavior and Threat Management (BTAM) Training, Certified Instructor Civilian Response (CRASE), Physical Security Measures, and Force Protection and Antiterrorism Officer, among others.

Mark Zirtzlaff is the CEO and Founder of MZ Security Consulting and a retired U.S. Navy Master-at-Arms Senior Chief Petty Officer with 27 years of dedicated service in force protection and anti-terrorism. Mark has led security teams, conducted comprehensive assessments, and delivered critical specialized training programs throughout his career. His experience includes managing security operations in high-pressure, diverse, and challenging environments worldwide and performing comprehensive vulnerability and risk assessments for Department of Defense facilities.

Mark's professional background includes working as a Protective Security Officer (PSO) under the Federal Protective Service,
Department of Homeland Security, where he was responsible for policing, securing, and ensuring a safe environment where federal agencies could conduct their business. He also served as a Regional Force Protection and Anti-Terrorism Manager, where he was instrumental in the initial development and nationwide implementation of security procedures for 72 U.S. Navy Reserve facilities.
